Voces Locales

Steward: Maritza L. Félix

How can we create more understanding of the Spanish-speaking media ecosystem and strengthen its reach? The group established a dynamic collaboration of Spanish-language news outlets, civic leaders, and media innovators united to revolutionize local journalism for Hispanic communities in the US. The shared goal: Empower Spanish-speaking newsrooms with shared resources and a powerful network of support to collectively tackle the unique challenges of our industry Con Acento y Con Talento. Six members of the Working Group, including steward Martiza L. Félix, wrote essays that serve as case studies of the kind of work the group’s members are doing both on their own and collectively, with the network’s support. Two of those essays have been translated into English below.
